About The Artist:
Juergen Aldag
The Celebrity Artist
|
In 1988, after receiving a personal invitation from Siegfried and Roy, the world famous
magic illusionists at the Mirage Hotel, Aldag flew from Germany to Las Vegas
arriving in America for the first time in his life. He came specifically to give them a
private exhibition of his artworks. Roy was so impressed by his work that he told Aldag,
For every artist, there is a place in the universe; be patient and you will find
your place among the stars! Combining timely techniques involving thirty or more independent processes with unlimited color and pigment variations, he masters his craft. Just as the sun rises and sets, from one extreme to the other (and all thats in between), Aldag has developed and molded, through years of experience, a distinctive and original style of art. He merges a multitude of shades and dimensions which he titles, Defingismus, (derived from the Latin word, defingieren, which means: Changing the form of Reality). Juergen Aldag was born (on Christmas Eve in 1955) and raised in Hamburg, Germany . A true artist from the age of seven, starting with painting the Beatles, he became one of the best color running silk screen specialist in Germany by the age of twenty one. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and lived at the Mirage Hotel for many months. In January 1994, he met his (now) wife Wendy Arvella, an art critic, musician and writer, during a visit to Santa Monica, California. In June 1994 they went to Oahu, Hawaii, Japan and then moved back to Germany together, so that Juergen could utilize his 6,000 sq. ft. art studio and massive silk screen machines to create the "Nobody Wears It Better" art collection of Siegfried & Roy's Animals. His wife Wendy wrote a children's book, "The Magic Royal White Tigers" during their stay in Germany. She also wrote the music and lyrics for 13 children's songs for an animated movie script, "The Magic Royal White Tigers" and recorded them, with the help of some German musicians and engineers, including some members of the rock band, The Scorpions. They returned to Las Vegas after Aldag had completed a couple of art collections of both abstract "Fantasys" and Siegfried and Roy's animals. After a few months in Vegas, they moved back to Hawaii, their 'favorite place in the world' at that time, in November 1995. They lived in Hawaii from 1995 until 2001 and then decided to move to Las Vegas, after Aldag signed a contract with Siegfried & Roy to collaborate on a private art collection. Aldags paintings have been distributed and sold for many years in Europe, and within the last 15 years, at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Wyland Galleries (Hawaii and Las Vegas), many Japan art galleries (and independent Japanese art dealers), The Paris/New York art galleries, the New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco Artexpos, Palm Springs International Art Fair, Coast Galleries in Laguna Beach, the Art of Music art gallery in the Forum Shops @ Caesars Palace and Art de Vignettes at the Fashion Show mall on the Las Vegas strip. Aldag has been dubbed the "Celebrity Artist" because of his extensive celebrity art collections including the Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, John & Yoko, Cher, The Scorpions, Siegfried & Roy and their celebrity animals, just to name a few. His art has been bought and collected by an impressive list of celebrities, high profile politicians and entertainment corporations such as, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, President Bush, BMW and Polygram Records, along with many others. |
